Pompeian red, which was possibly first seen on the walls of villas in Pompeii after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, was formed when gasses and heat from the volcano transformed the original yellow ochre pigments to red. It is seen throughout Italy in the countryside and cities on the exterior and interiors of homes. I found the red here on some brutally patterned cement. It makes a rough and rugged style. Wear it with cowboy boats and sawdust on the floor.
